Virgil Earps House
Tombstone, Arizona
The fire aftermath photo's...
The city of Tombstone still doesn't know how the so-called Virgil
Earp house caught fire and nearly burned to the ground on Saturday afternoon,
June 6, 1998. I say so-called Virgil Earp house because a gentlemen who
has been studying Tombstone houses for years, recently said after the fire
that most of house was not from the original Virgil Earp house. O'well,
as long as I can remember, I've been calling it the Virgil Earp house,
and it did stand on the same corner where Virgil's house once did. Virgil's
house was located on Fremont Street, just down the street from the famous
OK Corral gunfight. After the now famous gunfight, Morgan and Virgil Earp,
both wounded in the gun battle were taken to the house on this corner.
After the fire was extinguished, looking at a view of the east side
of Virgil Earps house.
The fire department cleans up as the news camera's shoot there stories
from the front door.
The house is completely gutted on the inside, antiques and all...very
sad!
